The “cell” architecture of the NEC Enterprise Server Express5800/1000 series connects up to eight processor modules (each with 4 quad-core processors and 128 GB of memory) using NEC’s exclusive high-performance, low-latency memory and crossbar interface technology. The result is a highly scalable and flexible system that supports up to 8 hardware partitions to optimize resource utilization across multiple applications in complex IT environments.

The systems advanced RAS features include its unique modular design, redundant and hot-plug components and memory mirroring, along with integrated monitoring and diagnostics capabilities. Altogether, these features enable mainframe levels of availability without the cost and complexity of clustering. In addition to its fundamental flexibility and resiliency, NEC has worked extensively with Intel and Microsoft, and the NEC Enterprise Server Express5800/1000 series is among the first to demonstrate full support for Dynamic Hardware Partitioning running the upcoming Windows Server 2008 operating system.
